Profile

Edward Goodman is a partner in the real estate department at Ingram Yuzek Gainen Carroll & Bertolotti, LLP and was formerly a partner at the New York City law firm of Moses & Singer LLP. Earlier in his career he was associated with the firms of Bachner Tally & Polevoy LLP and Kelley Drye & Warren LLP.

With decades of experience in a broad range of real estate transactions, Ed's practice is focused primarily in the area of commercial leasing. His extensive experience in the field includes work performed on behalf of both landlords and tenants, and spans almost three decades of varying market conditions, enabling him to offer clients keen insight in lease negotiations. He has applied his broad-based experience in representing clients in a large number of significant office, retail, restaurant and net leases.

With respect to financing transactions, Ed has represented lenders and borrowers in the negotiation and documentation of real estate loans of varying degrees of magnitude and complexity. His familiarity with a wide range of title insurance issues and ability to structure loan transactions in a way that minimizes the impact of New York’s expensive mortgage recording tax provides an advantage to banking clients, as well as to corporate clients requiring financing.

In the areas of real estate and bankruptcy, Ed has authored several articles, including The Overlooked Loan Workout Issue: Others with Interests at Stake, Real Estate Finance (Fall, 1991) (with Richard E. Strauss, J.L. Fishman and K.D. Freedman), and Regularly Conducted Non-Collusive Mortgage Foreclosure Sales: Inapplicability of Section 548(a)(2) of the Bankruptcy Code, 52 Fordham Law Review 261 (1983).

Ed is a member of the New York State Bar Association.  Mr. Goodman is rated "AV Preeminent" in the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating system.  This rating indicates that he has been deemed by his peers to have demonstrated the highest level of ethical standards and legal ability.
